BECOMING
Solo exhibition at Montsalvat, Eltham VIC
27 MAY - 14 JUNE 2026

Becoming traces the quiet, often unseen landscapes shaped by Tasmina’s experience as a migrant, those delicate, liminal spaces where leaving and becoming coexist. Moving across borders transformed not only her outer world, but also her inner one. What began as a shift away from the familiar gradually evolved into a deeper migration within: a surrender to uncertainty, an expansion of patience, and a growing respect for the resilience that emerges when the familiar falls away.
In the body of work, Tasmina draws on birds and elements of nature, such as trees and stones, as central metaphors for transformation, continuity, and the weight of memory and emotion we carry. Birds, in their instinctive movement across skies and seasons, echo the rhythms of migration. Their journeys are fluid and uncertain, yet guided by an inner sense of direction. Alongside this, the natural forms of trees reflect the ever-changing nature of life and the ways we evolve through its many phases.
